2 Black Wires 2 White Wires 1 Red Wire
The united states has strict codes relating to home wiring including clearly defined colors on the outer casing of the wires.
2 black wires 2 white wires 1 red wire. The black wire goes to the bundle of black wires. The wall switch has a red on the bottom and a black on the top. Plus a black a red and a white from the other direction. The outlet has 1 white wire 1 black wire and 1 ground wire going to it.
Tehn another sleave with just bare red and black never seen that before. I need to replace an electrical outlet that is different from ones i ve replaced in the past. 2 black wires 2 white wires and 1 red wire. Red most likely the runner from the switch connects to the top of the outlet side with the small rectangular slot.
The nearby hall is somehow connected to this light too. The light has 2 blacks 2 whites and a ground. I have a standard house 2 plug electrical outlet. Two white s on each screw of the neutral side of the outlet large.
You ll have two cables in the switch box a live one with a black and white wire and the one going to the outlet which has a red black and white wire. Black means hot white signifies neutral and green indicates ground. What i want to do is install a motion detector to the outlet. If you only have black wires in your box connect both the non white wires from the fan to the black wires in the box.
The white wires on the fan go to the bundle of white wires. One black from bottom screw on side with small rectangular slot on outlet or one of 2 twisted together with a wire nut to the the light fixture. 12 awg for 20 amp circuits and 14 awg for 10 and 15 amp circuits. Normally wires with white insulation are used only for neutrals but code makes an exception to allow for use of the white wire in a cable used as a switch loop as a hot rather than a neutral.
Hi this is my first time here but i couldn t find an answer i was looking for. I took down an old ceiling fan and am replacing it with a simple light. The third is to an outlet top recepticle the second ceiling fan other side of the room it has two black two red two bare and one white. From checking the wires the left black wire the one that hasn t been stripped is hot all the time when the breaker is on but the other black wire is not i assume because it needs the red wire to give it power.
The second switch is two black and a bare. The ceiling has 5 wires. No hidden one the wire is really two sleaves one with black red white and bare. The cable with the white wire that s connected to the two black wires is a switch loop.
