Light Switch Not Working After Changing
Light wont work after changing switch.
Light switch not working after changing. I checked the connections in both the fixture and the switch and both are fine but still no light. I made a basic mistake and one of the switches wasn t disconnected and i got a bit of a shock. A switch should be on the hot not the neutral. One switch controls the hallway light the other controls the outside light and one is not used.
Even after a triple check to make sure the wires were connected properly and that the bulbs were in working order i decided to replace the old switch only to discover they don t work anymore. Although not legal a switch on the neutral is sometimes done by amateurs. Suddenly last night the lights go out no pops or fuses blowing or tripping or anything dramatic. I went to turn on the outside light and it would not work.
All working well for several weeks. The home installation usually has the black hot wire going from one switch to the next switch maybe to a receptacle and on to another switch. I was just replacing several switches a three set and a plug in a bathroom this evening. The three switches were connected to two separate fuses.
When i came home the other day and flipped the switch and the light was working. I recently changed the light in my bathroom. I have a 3 way light switch that is not working. A switch is put on the circuit to turn loads usually light fixtures on and off.
